Seth and I were sitting around the Camp today and he called a good friend of his who recently had a baby and has not been able to hunt much at all this year. He is a Deputy here in Clarke County and had worked off after a nerve-wracking night of dealing with this awful freeze-up. Seth invited him to come down this afternoon and hunt and he gladly accepted! We hung around and fixed a couple of busted pipes waiting on him and my uncle until they showed up around 3:00. We got their things together and got em headed out to some good stands. It seems like it was only a few minutes and I heard a shot!! It was quickly followed by a text from Seth.....Anthony just shot the Big 5! He is a buck that we had decided to let someone take if they got a chance. He lacked brows and had recently lost an eye in a fight and was looking rough....but, a super buck for a guy that just has not had a chance to hunt! I was mighty proud for him and REALLY proud of Seth's excitement over his buddy's success.



After a lot of texts and Congrats, things settled down and started getting cold. The sun dropped and things got still and quiet.......'that' time..... I heard a shot ring out, and thought it was probably Seth. Then, I heard his 'now-famous' follow-up shot and KNEW it was him! He does NOT give one a chance to get back up when he gets him down! LOL The phone buzzed and it was him; "I got a goodun". And he did!



All in all, it was one of my finest hunts ever. To see my son and his good friend both take good bucks on the same day and share the camaraderie that only a Hunting Camp can bring was a great feeling!!!! Mighty proud father tonight!

Congrats to all of you and a great thing you did for the policeman I know them guys had some long hours nothing like hunting relationships and socializing at the hunting camps.

As much as I love hunting, and that is a LOT; I think the whole Hunting Camp/Sharing Hunts aspect is just as important to me!

I run the battery down in my phone texting and sending pics/videos while we are hunting.! LOL

Here is a neat video I took of the 5pt the other day. He was showing out and chasing young bucks around.....grunting and posturing. Neat hunt out of 20' ladder!
You can see how beat up his head was. I guess they call them 'eyeguards' for a reason! LOL
