800$ per mo. for a family of 3 BC/BS individual blue, yeah all this affordable health care raised our rates 300/mo and tripled our deductable. Visits to the Dr that used to cost nothing out of pocket now cost 60$. Affordable my A$$

$670/month for me and my wife. Blue cross plan. Add that to what I have to pay out of pocket each year and I'm into the $10,000/year range and then some.

Way to dang much!
Total cost would be $1100+ but my portion is only around $300 right now.

I like to think I fund my own plan.
I don't have conventional insurance.
When I receive a bill, I pay it in cash as soon as possible after trying to negotiate it downward for a short period. Paying ten bucks for a single Q-TIP can be settled for fifty cents, for instance.
When I get caught, I will pay any penalty to the Gestapo, at any rate, before I sign up for this fiasco.
I will pay cash under the table when it comes to it.
Don't get me wrong, I really do feel the effects of it monetarily.
I make an OK living, but there is an end to it, and it is finite.
There will ALWAYS be doctors willing to accept cash to let me jump line on a 6 month waiting period for treatment.
I challenge you to put pencil to paper and see if you can do the same.
You might be surprised to see that you can, too..

From my understanding, If found to be treating patients without insurance they will be fined and face other penalties. If I am not mistaken they are required to "turn you in" for not having insurance. But, I don't think anybody really knows what is going to happen or how...The only thing I know it is FUBAR...

Can we keep this discussion on the level? I care nothing about tactics and innuendo. This is a current topic that everyone has an opinion on, but this will really hurt middle class families for at least the next generation. I could get on a payment plan for every loan I owe but do not. But also understand that people cannot do that everytime. Know the system, work the system, and then correct it please. I have no government assistance, nor do I want any.And yes I know you are not asking for any but your comment is a little to much and what I think is wrong with society.

My company pays for my coverage and half of my Family coverage, just medical though. Company also pay 100% for a $25000.00 Life insurance policy and short and long term disability policy for me. It is BCBS and it fantastic insurance. 20/45 dollar co-pays, $3000 yearly individual out of pocket limit, $6000 family out of pocket yearly.
My part for family coverage was $640.00 mo.
I also have Vision/Dental and some AFLAC coverage that I pay for myself thru the company.
Now for the kicker, I have been out of work on unpaid Medical Leave using Long Term Disability policy, paid for by company, for a little over a year. They pay 70% of my base salary, which comes to about the same as my take home after taxes. Only now I have to pay ALL of my insurance premiums on my own so now every month I write a check to my company for $2180.00 for all my insurance coverage...except the Long Term Disability Policy whose premium is waived as long as I remain disabled. To say things are tight is an understatement but with such good coverage and low co-pays, my medical issues are easily manageable.
Hunt'em hard when they are hard to hunt but never, ever hardly hunt!

I think I might be allright for an off-the-books visit or two.

If you got good insurance right now you better use it this year. Within 7-8 months the notices are going to go out to everyone who has not already been hit.

BCBS went from $683/month family to $1,100/month and a deductible from $2,500 annually to $12,700 annually. Those that get insurance through work are insulated until 2014, when they will get blasted out of the water or their employers will continue to insulate them from the real cost and just not add any additional employees just to pay the increase. Get ready for the screwing boys!

$40 a week BC/BS for just me ... I work for a small company (under 50 employees) and they have already said they will drop us. Just a matter of when.
