this topic is just depressing. got me thinking about jumping the border to Mexico. Got a good friend considering moving to Panama or Costa Rica. He is self employed and his healthcare is pretty high.

$1300.00 per month for family coverage plus dental BCBS of AL. Small Business (3-50) Plan. Own my own business with father-in-law. Rates have gone up several hundred over the past couple years.
Coverage:
100% PMD/Preferred Provider Coverage
$30 PMD physician copay/$50 specialist copay
$250 Hospital/ER copay
RX card program: $4 generic, $40 brand name, $70 brand chosen over generic
80%/20% UCR split coverage on Major Medical/out of network/non-BCBS providers with $350 deductible for other services under major medical, $1050 family deductible max (physical therapy, medical equipment, out of BCBS network providers, etc...)

As of right now I only pay 180.00 a month for a family of 4.I work for Mitchell Grocery and they have a very large group plan.I will say this though.The coverage has gone down alot and some things they wont even cover anymore.I saw a N.P a few months back and found out later the hard way that B.C.B.S wont cover any of the visit.

Around $180 a month for family, that's through my wife's job as a teacher. Does anyone know how/if/when teachers insurance will be affected? same here. It is the only reason my wife still works.

$452 a month for family bcbs. We technically still live in Florida because we couldn't afford he same coverage in AL. Go figure

Those of you that are in a small family business might check into getting individual coverage. We saved about 700 per month by going this route a few years ago. The small business plans really hammer you. The individual plans are just what jumped 100%. Mine went from $490 to almost $1,200 and the deductible and OOP went up 5x. I think I figured if two of us went into the hospital for more than 2 days my exposure would be $35,000. My previous worst case (including premiums) was <$10,000.
not sure what the best way to handle them is but they shouldnt be on tv and gettn married and raisin kids
