Haha. Long story on that bird, but one of the two shots fired at it was at point blank range.

Bale, I'm just a guy who hunts, read it again and you will see the obvious sarcasm in the posts. El Presidente. Welcome. If you killed a 6 point you would shoulder mount it for sure for it would be your biggest buck to date. should start a thread for thinning spikes and jakes? Any advice for the boss toms this year? You are a great president and I would follow you anywhere except the PETA headquarters

I got the scasim in it the first time but I do know idots that would say something like that and it would be real. Now for the pine goats I'm all in for getting rid of them if it will help the turkeys. grin

Long story might not have been accurate, it was more of a long journey that culminated with that bird. I had many mishaps, failures, and missed opportunities my first several years of turkey hunting. That might be the norm, or maybe not, but it killed me more than most people. When I want something, I want it bad. Like to the point that it controls me. I wanted to kill a wild turkey.

The hunt was going well. We set up just off of a food plot that we thought some birds were moving towards. We had a bird answer the calling and it slowly came closer and closer. I had ranged this big oak tree in front of me at 37yds. So when that bird came sneaking in, and came around that bog oak tree to the edge of the food plot, 3 years of frustration and disappointment pulled the trigger, not me. The turkey was definitely hit, but ran/flopped down into a hollow. The guy I was hunting with started yelling at me, "You got to wait, man!" "He was coming in."

I found the turkey down the hollow, barely able to stand, kind of like the old mortal kombat video game where it says, "Finish him!" So I got my gun up and proceeded to do what you saw to his head. I didn't care about the details though, I had finally killed a wild turkey.

Good stuff! And yep, that's the norm I believe, starting out, and some years throughout a "career."

I was the same, took me awhile too. I think bit helps you learn in the long run. That is if you can notice you mistakes.

Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

And I was shooting the winchester supremes that patterned horrible out of my gun/choke. I have no idea why, I think I was limited on time. Didn't make that mistake again. That's when I went and patterned my gun in the pics I posted. That's also why I'm still looking for the perfect pattern. Hevi magblends have been the winner so far, but I'll try the Nitros soon.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
