I've been looking at getting the tools to start loading my own TSS. It doesn't look to be real expensive to get everything needed. Looks like a drill press is the most expensive piece of equipment. I know I don't need a press but would like to use one. Looking on Northen Tool site I can get a bench mount press for $70. My question is would it be what I need? I assume it would be since guys are using a hand drill. Here is the one I'm talking about. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200365427_200365427

Here is what I use:
RCBS digital powder measure Powder trickler Powder scoop Roll crimper Drill press
We made a hull trimmer dowel for the 1 5/8 loads. They seemed to roll better when trimmed.

However, I just got on the 20 ga ban wagon so didn't have a need to do so. The 870 super mag and Nitros were getting the job done just fine. I also thought the tools to load this stuff were expensive. It seemed like rocket science so I was hesitant to check into. I've recently learned differently.

Yeah hawg that's the site N2deer turned me onto. That's when I realized the tools needed were not all that expensive. I plan to send you a PM for a component list soon. I have everything I need for this year as several of us spilt the cost. I'll need to get my own stuff ordered over the summer when supplies are more available.

Here's what I bought on the recommendations from some of the guys on here.
Redding Powder Trickler-$21.99 Ballistic Products Hull Vice-$46.99 Ballistic Products Ballistiscale 1500-$27.99 Small cheapo funnel-$5.00 Ballistic Products Roll Crimper-$27.99 Cheapo powder scoop-$5.00
I already had the drill press so that is what I use. I use a 5/8" dowel cut to length to trim my hulls down and a piece of 1/2" dowel to make sure the wad and stuff is seated down in the hull. So yes, you can get all the stuff for about $200. You can make a hull vice pretty easy but it was easier to call and order it and it be at the house when i got home. You can also get a 20mm forstner bit to make you a shot block to hold the shells so they don't fall over.

The hull vice is not needed it you use a drill press. Exactly. There must be a bunch of guys on here with girly hands. I'm an old man and have no problem holding the shell while I crimp it with the drill press. You would probably need a hull vice if you were gonna use a hand drill. I'd buy the drill press; every man should own a drill press. I also have never used a powder trickler. I put some powder in a scoop and trickle it out by hand. Some times I put in a little too much and have to dig some out and start over, but its not like I'm a commercial manufacturer. I can load all the shells I'll need for the season in an hour or so.

Best thing I've found for loading TSS are those tiny little plastic cups that hospitals have millions of that they give out pills in. Just load up this the weighed charges of shot and powder and them dump them in your hulls just like an assembly line. Nothing to it.

One other thing: you can use an old slate call striker to seat the wad, cork, and felt.
