always ready to go. split seconds save lives imo. you don't always get the face to face encounter.

Always hot in my CC unless I am cleaning it. I keep it on me or put away so my son cant get to it. One time on a traffic stop a LEO asked for me to hand it to him with two fingers. I did what he asked then he acted as though he couldn't believe it was loaded.

One in the tube ready to fire. If you don't have one in the chamber you might as well throw it at them. Dad always carried his pistol with one in the chamber and safety off When he was on duty.

Hard to shoot something with an unloaded gun,I hunt with one in the chamber as well!

I prefer the option of instant and stealthy response. If someone is in my house, they are way past the deterrent stage. My Rottweiler doesn't bark, and my firearms don't go snicker-snack. grin

That ain't a deterrent.

If you really need it then you'll need it fast and you ain't got time to be dicking around trying to chamber a round.

its just seems like a lot of risk for the half second it takes me to cock it.now ive never been in a situation were that half a second would have made any diffrence.but i do know a guy who walks with a limp from quick drawing his glock and being a little quick on the trig

It takes longer than you think. I had a guy trespassing on me draw his bow on me earlier this year I would have never had time to pull rack the slide and aim....

1. It's going to take you longer than half a second to draw and chamber a round.

2. Being quick on the trigger and shooting yourself in the leg comes from lack of preparedness.

Practice enough and prepare yourself and you need not worry about a round in the chamber or shooting yourself in the leg.

Look up the 21 foot rule and watch videos then see how you feel about carrying without one in the chamber.

How many of y'all have shot somebody? How many have had to use your gun on a criminal?

If a thug is coming at you to do bodily harm, he will be drawn, with one in the chamber ready to take you out. I agree with the above, Google "21 foot rule" and watch a few videos. It may change your thinking on how much time you actually have to react.

My XD 45 always has one in the chamber unless I'm cleaning it.

I never have and pray I never have to. If I ever have to, I want to be as prepared as possible to eliminate the threat as quickly as possible.

You are an idiot if you draw your gun with your finger on the trigger.

I have never shot anyone, but I have pulled my gun to protect my life and made the guy trying to car jack me drop his. If I had been required to chamber a round, I would have been dead.

That's not something I'm going to get into on an open forum
