I am sure that some lawyer somewhere will say that "if you had time to chamber a round and then fire, then you had time to flee and shouldnt have shot [some POS]" I dont want to give some scumback lawyer ANY chance to say anything like that!

Ok in a perfect world a bad guy would give you plenty of time and there would be nothing to restrict your movement etc. There is good chance you are going to be pushing a bad guy away from yourself or loved ones while drawing your gun with the other. Last time i checked it takes two hands to rack a slide. Also what if he is swinging some sort of club ( bat, tire iron, etc)? Are you going to let him hit you in the face or try to deflect a blow with your off hand? Once again you are standing with a useless hunk of metal in your hand. Its just to dangerous and too much risk to not be ready.

With modern pistols like the xd, glock, and m&p its almost impossible for an accidental discharge. The firing pin cannot hit the primer without all the internal and external safeties disengaged. If you properly draw your weapon with your trigger finger OUTSIDE the trigger guard and along side the frame, it can't fire.

Btw, I carry with 5 rounds chambered.

I always have one in the chamber of my CC. The shotgun beside my bed has one in the chamber as well. The guns in my safe are unloaded. I'm not taking the chance of having to screw around with loading my guns if/when the time comes I need them to protect me or my family. It's not worth it to me.

If I had a gun it would be loaded. I'd rather have a baseball bat than an unloaded gun.

Both the one I carry and the one I keep up in the closet are ready to fire. The one in the closet is a revolver. I don't know if I would think to pull the hammer back if I got into a tense situation but I KNOW my wife wouldn't. I have told her just aim and pull the trigger.

goodman_hunter, you sound like someone that hasn't been on this earth very long and don't understand reality very well. If your out to scare people, CC isn't for you. Never pull a gun on someone unless your committed to using it at that moment. If you have to chamber a round in that moment of truth, you probably won't need that round in the chamber.

my 2 cents. Unchambered carry is THE stupidest thing you can do... Most likely get you killed in an ugly way... If you are not comfortable carrying Condition 1 DO NOT CARRY AT ALL!

Double action revolver. I don't put one under the hammer though. Just squeeze trigger
