I'm kinda like you Daniel. I ain't messed with cows in several years but i grew up with them. I never thought anything about seeing cows get horns scooped and we used an iron to burn the holes so they wouldn't bleed. I've seen calves cut but we always used bands. I've seen calves cut up with an exacto knife and pulled out in pieces to save the cow. Never thought much about it i guess cause I've seen it since I was a little kid.

When we were "working" cattle years ago, we would de-horn calves using the scoops, add a coagulent (sp?), and then spray it with some sort of purple spray. Then de-nut the bulls and give them all a shot of antibiotics.
