Got my trap framed up the other day. I used 16 ga metal for the back and plan on using carpet for the front. It's 4' tall and 5' wide and I have $8 dollars in it right now. If any of you fellers have any old carpet laying around that lives near me I'd love to have it. Y'all are also welcome to come use it anytime. Rent will be cheap, just 2# of TSS!

Looks good. How many layers of carpet are you planning on using?

Depends on how thick the carpet is I guess. I have a hookup at with the Cintas door mat place up here but he hasn't came thru yet. I was gonna put 3 of them big mats in it. If I can get some real thick carpet I'll just use two layers of it.

If you use the Cintas mats, you'll need four of them.

I'm really wanting to use carpet. I think it would hold up better myself.

My cousin is a supervisor at a local air conditioning place. He got it for me at scrap price.

If I was good at carpentry, I'd tilt the sheet metal downward so any shot that hits it will be hitting it at an angle.

I just went by a local metal fab shop and the guy cut me a piece for $10. You should be able to call around and find you a place to get a piece. They usually have big piles of it for scrap.

I may go back and do that. I've got an idea in my head for when the shot hits and falls, have it falling into a channel that runs out the side of the trap and into a cup.

Mine had so much carpet fiber and rubber dust that it wouldn't roll anywhere! I had to get mine out with a magnet to keep from getting so much of the carpet fibers in my shot bucket. Just make sure the front piece hangs down into the trough so they don't bounce out.

Ok, I have never used one of these, but I am assuming that you would be planning to reload the shells yourself? What other purpose would it serve.

I'm catching the TSS shot that I've already loaded so I can load it up again. That stuffs expensive.

Me too!

I keep telling myself that I'm thru testing and don't need one now. Then I go outside and shoot another shell.

Buy yourself a gold miners screen set. I screen all my shot and you will be amazed at the stuff that comes out of it. I have had split pellets, number 6, 7, 8 & 10's (in my 9's), snowmen, as many as 3 pellets stuck together. And not to mention all the trash on reclaimed shot.
