Outdoor what makes you think some stupid kid tresspasser won't be in there trying to sneak in on your Turkey, same can happen on leased private land. Also what's your thought on property lines what if that bird is close to the line and your neighbor is just on the other side. Same scenario.

I don't usually hunt where other vehicles are parked unless I know who it is and where they are, but I don't care if another hunter walks in on me they have just as much rights to the land as I do and if I was bothered by it I would join a club or buy more land. Most of the time I make a new friend and it's good to know a lot of hunters especially if you need a hand in the woods. I bet a quarter of the vehicles in Bankhead are left there to keep others out, I have a lot of family that does this and know of many others it's a common practice. no offense but to me thats as unethical or poor etiquette as parking and getting out where someone else already is. Hence again..the problem with public land hunting. No etiquette or respect. Why do you think they leave their trucks? I would guess so noone else would hunt there. Thats like putting a pin in a hunting club sign out board if youre not going there. Any club Ive been in..it gets you kicked out immediately. I don't think anyone is talking about hunting clubs...they're talking about public land. Actually that post was about leaving vehicles parked where someone wasnt even hunting. Its called a COMPARISION. You're trying to compare apples to oranges. The way you try to explain it makes people believe you think that if a vehicle is left unattended at a spot that they are not actually hunting, they shouldn't be allowed to hunt there anymore. This is public land not private land! If you don't like it go lease your own land. Oh wait....you have already stated that you don't hunt public land at least 575 times.... wow really? I thought your brother was the dumb one?..I guess it is a genetical thing! The OP was about public land respect and etiquette. The way you are supposed to act on public land so it is safe and fun to hunt. Go read back in the post before you come in here obviously just trying to stir up chit. Go back and read the WRITTEN rules MOST people follow hunting public land. The way I explained it stated that it was UNETHICAL and similiar to putting a pin in a club board and not hunting there. I realize that your genetically challenged and your reading comprehension might now be up to par. Go back and read the thread a few times..you might get it.

We have a rule in our club to not hunt too close to the boundary line. Also..we prosecute all trespassers..if you look back in my other posts youll see we had some neighbors who pushed the line. They were caught with bait, over the line hunting without permission, hunting while intoxicated at 8 am, and not one had a license. Their fines were thousands of dollars each and they cant get hunting licenses for a while.....so currently..NO ONE is hunting there. They cant hunt!

but believe me..if you look back on my fourth bird...youll see I fanned him in. Using a gobblers fan...and was 100 yards from the line...so I WAS WORRIED. But i figured theyd shoot at the bird in the field before they shot at the fan in the woods...but I was worried about taking a load of shot..no doubt.
I get worried anytime Im turkey hunting.

It is actually the number one reason I dont use decoys much..especially a strutting tom. A LOT of hunting accidents happen during the turkey season do to no blaze orange, full camo, decoys and the actual act of calling.

The chance is still there it only takes that one time. Just like you were set to hang me out to dry. You don't know the guys there. He might be trying to do right but gets turned around and crosses that line. Public or private don't matter you can get walked in on. Private there's less of a chance but I stress again identify your target before you put that finger on the trigger.

Where are these WRITTEN rules that you're referring to? LOL..really. GO B A C K and R E A D! they are posted..even from Alabama Fish and Game magazine, as well as a few other sources. Obviously you dont practice them...again based on your reading comprehension..or lack there of. OR...Go look on the internet. Enter PUBLIC LAND TURKEY hunting etiquette. Try to spell it right..or if thats too challenging just cut and paste where I typed it. To do that..pull your mouse across the words..and they will be highlighted. Then..left klik on them. Hit where it says COPY...and the go up to your browser..double klik your left mouse control and klik where it says PASTE. Hit enter...and presto...up pops a dozen examples. Read them..or have someone read them to you if it is too hard. Learn them..live them...love them! Thanks!

Im not saying anyone should be kicked out of public land..but practicing that lack of ethics at a club gets your ass kicked out. Is that better??? Having an battle of wits with you is very frustrating. It like having a gun fight with an unarmed man.

Another WMA I know of had 6 trucks parked at the end of the road at the gate. All different groups of hunters. 5 birds were taken that day. All were able to hunt same area and had a great hunt. I imagine some great stories were shared that day.

well guys..it has been extremely AMUSING. But I have to go. You young guys just do not get it.
There are rules of hunting etiquette that has been passed down for over the 40 years Ive been hunting. Many examples are in writing, as I showed here.
People that dont follow them diminsh the whole experience of public land hunting as well as make it unsafe.
You can just ignore them if you want...but that NO DOUBT makes you: 1.)IGNORANT 2.) selfish 3.) careless
Whatever floats your boat. Just keep running around with no regards for others. Sooner or later there will be a negative experience for you..either in an accidental shooting or someone that will teach you the proper respect.
Good luck with it..and good night!

It won't be you! I've come to one conclusion if somebody don't hunt the way you do their in the wrong. I've met more friends and hunting buddies while hunting public land than I ever had on a lease. You need to give guys a little more credit there are some really good guys out there. They ain't all know it alls like yourself. Yes mistakes are made but you live learn and make friends. I have been walked in on many times and have gotten down and just talked to guys to see how their season has been going. People like you give other hunters a bad name. Get out there make some friends and enjoy your time in the woods.

Old school hunters (age anyway) are the ones that usually walk in on me that I have the most trouble with because since they been hunting that piece of land for 40+ years no one else should hunt it. As I see it public land is public and it's like fishing don't move in on someone and if you do back out and go deeper in the woods. As far as people getting shot that's the fault of a unethical hunter not being sure of his target and pulling the trigger anyways. Be sure of your target and hunt on. I agree, the ONLY yes I said ONLY people I have encountered that did anything so called unethical was some old COLD HARD fellas at the wmas that thought they owned the place because they have been hunting there for 30 years. Even go as far to pull up as we were all discussing were everyone was going and just take off so noone would get HIS spot. That must be OLD SCHOOL SON
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.
