That's ridiculous ! The judge should need more evidence to find them guilty.

Something seriously wrong with the whole deal.

i dont want to say anything negative but it sounds like some part of the story is being left out or added to or neglected. As BhamFred said thats a hard fine for young First time offenders!!!

You needed MUCH better lawyers. An appeal will get it further away from this good old boy goat rodeo and HOPEFULLY expose some of the shenanigans regarding lack of evidence.
If there's more to this story I'd love to hear it. Sounds like prosecutorial misconduct almost to me.

I am fairly certain that is over the limit for a YO fine. Also, they were adjudicated guilty of violating the Youthful Offender statute. They were not found guilty of anything. I would appeal it to the court of criminal appeals. I don't think she can take their hunting rights for a YO adjudication.

So what made the retired Game Warden think that it was your son's vehicle that the shots came from? Do you think he randomly picked out a vehicle that just happened to have an AR-15 in the floorboard. You might have to realize that possibly your son is guilty.

May have been or they could have pulled up at the wrong time. Need some proof IMHO.

Do you think he randomly picked out a vehicle that just happened to have an AR-15 in the floorboard. You might have to realize that possibly your son is guilty. from a legal standpoint it really dosen't matter....there was NO evidence, no eyewitness, to the alledged shooting. Stopping at a stop sign with a gun(loaded or unloaded) dosen't make you guilty of ANY HUNTING law or reg. Actually shooting a stop sign still dosen't make you guilty of hunting at night or hunting from a motor vehicle. The question here is exactly what did the retired GW actually SEE anyone do??? How in the hell does anyone get a warrant based on hearing shots without actually seeing anything???? I'll bet those convictions could be turned over based on an invalid warrant....

Whether they shot the sign or not means nothing IMO, the "witness" (GW), charges of night hunting, etc., fines and probation, screams your son and his pals were hosed and were poorly represented.

I just do not believe you are telling all the facts. Or, very possibly, he is probably not getting all the facts. Too many of us have dealt with the CJ system for too long to not realize something is terribly out of sync in this story.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Too many of us have dealt with the CJ system for too long to not realize something is terribly out of sync in this story. But IF the retired GW testified that he only heard shots then it would seem that the boys are telling the truth. AND if the weapon smelled of solvent like the deputies testified, when did they have time to clean it before they got there and all the while a retired GW standing guard over them?
