9mm AR - 04/19/24 01:48 AM

I been thinking about buying a 9mm ar, my thinking you can go shoot cheaper than an 5.56, you can buy a 50 count of 9mm for around $14 and a box of 20 (5.56) for $12, my question is does anyone on here have one, what make, any issues, likes & dislikes? Thanks

Not an AR but I do have a KelTec Sub 2000 that uses Glock mags. Fun to shoot and it fits in my briefcase.

If you just want one, sure….plenty of options. However, if you already have a 5.56 AR, that’s a lot of ammo $ spent, to just be able to save a few cents per round on different ammo that’s less versatile to begin with.

I bought an Armalite 9mm AR from PSA a couple weeks back. Thing was a damn jam-a-matic. Fail to feed every 1-2 shots using Glock magazines. Sent it back to them and scheduled to get it back Monday. We shall see. The times it didn’t jam it was way FUN.

I build AR’s. I only have one AR9. Truth is they are a little finicky. The key is to decide what grain bullet you are going to shoot and then find the buffer weight that works best. Remember AR9’s are not gas operated but rather just recoil.

I have a Foxtrot Mike AR-9.

I haven’t had any issues with it and it has last round bolt hold open, which seems to be rare on most AR-9’s.

Not an AR but I bought my wife a Beretta CX4 Storm carbine. She can operate the rifle fine. Best part, it utilizes the same magazine as my duty weapon, my Beretta FS92

Could be buffer size, but PSA lowers are supposedly notorious for the ejectors not being adjusted correctly. Mine was jamming every other round until I bent it correctly. With the magazine out, you can look and make sure there’s a gap between the ejector and the bolt carrier. If it’s not an equal space, then bend the ejector around with a pair of needle nose pliers and you should be in business. I adjusted mine and have put more than a thousand rounds through it without any failures to feed or eject.

Came here to post this same exact thing. Mine has a short barrel with dedicated suppressor. I really like it.
