Over the past two weeks my dogs have gotten covered with ticks. What can I give them/apply after the fact that will rid em? I've tried most of the stuff they sell at walmart in the past never had results from any of that (even the high dollar stuff). Last year I made my own dip but it wasn't too effective either. I figured some of y'all could shed some light. Thanks

Get some of that Sawyers Permethrin tick spray over in the camping section. Take them outside and spray, let dry. Then, if they are house dogs, they can come inside. You can get a bottle of permethrin 10% at the co op and mix your own if you want. There are instructions on the bottle on how to mix it for dogs. No cats though, it can kill cats, or so it says on the label.

I do not remember the name of the product I used but it worked great. Came in a small bottle, it was concentrated, mixed it with so many ounces per gallon of water and it was white/milky looking when you got it all mixed.

I purchased it from Scott White, the owner & vet at Tidmore Vet Clinic in Northport.

Never used anything any better. One dipping would work for months.

Stop by and tell the lady at the counter and they will know what it is.

Pretty sure that was probably Paramite Dip. Have to be careful about getting it on you...BUT, it works great!

I have had great luck with Sentry Fiproguard Max drops. Keeps em off!

I've seen more ticks this year than I can remember.

Years ago when dad and I had coon dogs, dad would buy a large plastic garbage can, and enough dip which I don't remember now what it was but it was in a large brown bottle that he got at the local co op and he would fill that can about 3/4 full of the mixture, then one by one we would leash those dogs bring them over to the can grab them by the nap of the neck and at the back and over they would go into the can. What was good about it you could put the lid on the can when you was done and in 2 or 3 weeks take the lid off give it a stir with a shovel or a hoe handle and repeat the whole process again.

I was 12 or 13 or so... we had a bunch of plott hounds, redbones, and walkers, about 10 in all...We had big ass steel cattle water troughs and huge plastic and aluminum containers/garbage can looking things... We were supposed to use a half cup to gallon of water... we used bottles of happy jack in every container and dipped the dogs for way too long... no worse for wear after all these years...dogs seemed to enjoy it and smelled kinda nice after the dip... but that shucks killed everything in sight.... we dipped until first frost every deer season... back then sometimes we didnt have to dip because it got in 20s opening morning squirrel season.

We dipped our dogs when I was a kid but don't remember with what. My grandad and dad had around 40 dogs at one point bird dogs rabbit dogs deer dogs and fox dogs. We would dip them in a drum then take the excess and pour it in there bedding areas to help. It took all day with that many dogs.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

I wanta say Pawpaw dipped his coon dogs in a 55 gallon drum that had a creosote solution in it. I remember feeling bad for the dogs when he would do it and how awful they stunk after.

l spray my yard with Tengard and use sevin dust after l bath them and dip them in Happy Jack kennel dip. Fleas have been bad this year you have to do it often to break up the egg cycle once it gets out of control its takes awhile to get a handle on it.

Comfortis is no where near any good that Trifexis is...that stuff is awesome. For the dogs outside we ended up using about 7 bags of flea & tick stuff in the 10lb bags. Finally not seeing any out there.
