I had a great hunt yesterday afternoon, saw four does get harassed by a spike, then several bucks came into the field, not really together, but very far apart. I saw a couple 3yo bucks spar and some smaller bucks spar, not real fighting though. The does were more interested in feeding and not at all interested with the spike. The bucks were not to territorial but the older ones had split up somewhat. I would guess 2 weeks or more away before the older class bucks get caught up in rutting activities. Not hunting up there this year but that would be about right from what I've seen in the past for the older bucks, the younger ones always start a couple weeks earlier.

Saw a four point running full tilt head down in the field along the side of hwy 29 this morning just inside the Troy city limits. He was moving stupid like he smelled something that made him forget to look where he was going. I've also seen a few roadkill small bucks in the county the past week.

If I had to pick one day to hunt in Pike County and kill a buck, it would be MLK day.
Dang it. I'm trying to decide to hunt the last week of January or Feb. Which one will be the best?
