Hunting , I can't remember details, but I think someone said here you can take them to stockyards. The owner will have to pay for storage and feed to get them back. have you ever heard that ?

Call the Co op in Oneonta tomorrow and get the phone number for a guy named George Gillespie. He's got dogs that will put a cow in a mailbox if George parks his truck beside it.
I called him in a decade or so ago. Had a neighbor about a mile away who had a heifer get loose. She was out long enough that she had a 3 month old calf with her and she was a wild as a deer. I fed her and got her coming up to the house regular. George pulls up with a truck load of dogs and there wasn't a cow dog in the truck. I promise you he had a full grown poodle in the back and a lab and a bunch of mutts. He told me the dogs would bring the cow to his truck so he parked it beside the guys cattle trailer. I would have bet $100 that those dogs wouldn't run a biscuit.
He turned them out and 10 minutes later that cow came out of a head of woods running Mach 5. She had 5 dogs on her. One biting each foot as it hit the ground and one swinging from her tail. I have never seen anything like it. She would have climbed in the glove box on that truck if the dogs wanted her to go there. I actually and literally laughed out loud

I was helping some friends out working cattle on a 2500 head farm and we couldn't get a few of the wild ones up in the catch pen. One of them called this and he showed up with what looks like every dog he could find at the local shelter. 10 mins he had every wild cow left in the woods itching to get in that catch pen. I laughed so hard when he unloaded those dogs and said this guy's nuts then after it was over I was picking my jaw off the ground in amazement

An adjoining land owner has had his cows loose since October. There are 2 cows that spend most of the time on our property. This place is only 150 acres with 4 fields. The cows have every field mowed, crap all over the place, and seem to enjoy head butting our cameras. I have been in contact multiple times with the owner of the cows. He gives me the same run around telling me he is gonna get them tomorrow blah blah blah. He actually told me last week he got them. This weekend what do we see all weekend but the same 2 cows. What can I do to get these off our property. My landowner is not happy about the cows being present and evidently has had bad dealings with the cattle owner in the past. I'm not cattle farmer but the cows are spooked every time they see us. I really want to get this taken care of before our rut kicks in Where are you located? Are you serious about wanting them gone? If so I can make that happen. If your not to far away. I got some buddies that are sure enough Cowboys. Meanest grittiest, crazy Cajuns I ever seen. And the best I ever seen. Promise you they can catch em. Got some cat. Cut dogs that ain't got no quit. If your in tallappossa county, Bill Prather use to be the best cow at they was. He could catch em. But let me know if you want them caught. I'll send Frank and Nathan Messer down to catch em. Hell, I may come with em, and try to help em rope it.

Here's what we did after the neighbor's cows kept getting into our food plots-- 1-Came up with a total for one year and sent him a bill, saying we would forgive the prior damage if he paid. 2-Told him he had 10 days to comply or we would take whatever action was necessary to protect our investment. 3-Future damage would be charged on an annual basis. 4-All correspondence sent Certified mail. 5-As he knew---We leave our gate open and would not accept respondibility for any accidents caused by his cows getting onto the road. 6-Notified him that we were saving all correspondence showing that this had been a continuing problem and nothing had been done to correct it . 7-Told him that if there were any accidents caused by his cows getting out, all records would be turned over to the local LEO's, and to the possible plaintiff. 8-Notified the sheriff based on what we were doing. 9-Got pictures of the cows and had an impartial witness during the picture taking, showing the cows and areas that were definitely identifiable relating to our property. 10- Get in writing that they are not his or have an LEO as a witness. 11.-If they aren't his according to him, take them to the cattle sale if he tried to avoid claiming them. In other words, start the ball rolling to show you mean business, document everything, and don't quit until he remedies the problem. I know, Lawyers can be another type problem, in and of itself. They aren't above the law. In other words, we were pist to go through all of this. Funny thing is that I was going to recommend the cowboys up Daniel's way, also, if you went in that direction.

If the cows are skittish, as you say, they may get spooked and charge you. At that point, I'd think you would be well within your rights to protect yourself from a charging animal since you would be in fear for your life. HINT, HINT.

I don't know - I only know of this particular case because it involves two landowners that are adjacent to some property that I hunt. I don't know anything for fact - just what I have heard. As I understand it - one owner cleared and planted his fields for hay. The other owner who is notorious for not maintaining his fence, "allowed" his cattle to graze the guys hay field. The guy got pissed and as I understand it is suing him.

Sucks that he won't do the right thing. I had a problem on my place with cows and called the caretaker and he got a horse and somehow was able to get them rounded up. Had about 6 on my place. He also repaired the fence where they got loose.
A friend of mine wasn't so fortunate. His neighbor couldn't afford to feed his cows so he let them graze on my buddy's place. After several months of trying to do the right thing, he handled it on his own.
