I'm probably using 90% flat sets with a couple dirt holes, step down or trench sets, and a couple post sets. As far as how many traps I set all depends on sign. If there is a lot of sign I'll set several traps that way if 4-5 coyotes come through I have enough steel to catch them all. Lol

mb550 right on the fingernail. Little sore but not much. And a 280 would be rough.

I was unsetting the trap and my safety's fell off. I didn't know they did and I just let go of the whole trap and wham! Luckily it didn't get right on my knuckle's. I'm very thankful and lucky it didn't break anything. You can still feel an indention in my fingers where the trap hit. It ain't like that on the other side. eek grin

Its better to sit in a stand and think about God, then to sit in church and think about hunting.

Sometimes the ground freezing will set 1 off. Try mixing some pet moss in with your dirt when you bed your traps

That trap had been been bedded in peat moss. Had one tiny hair in it. May have been deer. Who knows.

I pulled a couple traps this morning and reset some new ones just up from them. I caught a otter in a connibear on a dam crossing. That sucker like to have ran slam through it but it caught him around the hips.

I like to lung shoot them, doesn't put nearly as much blood in the area as a head shot.

You are wearing them out jon.
I am going to try and get mine out by Tuesday. I've got a lot more land to trap now that deer season is about over.
