Just looked at his bio. It looks solid from a conservative aspect, but will that be enough to get the establishment GOP to vote for Trump? It indicates he is part of the non-establishment GOP (Tea Party).

Personally, I think Trump would have been better off swinging for the fence with a female or minority pick. Better yet a minority female like Condi.

Condi was never an option for him, or he would have gone with her. Pence is known by the Indiana people for giving up on the religious freedom bill.

I wouldn't want Condi. I heard years ago from somebody connected to the Secret Service that she was an absolute asshole to them.

From what I've heard reported he was a Cruz supporter and endorsed him in primaries.

I like it. I'm not sure it will move the needle much for Trump, though.

Exactly - Pence proved himself to be a big wussy and betrayed conservatives with that Religious Freedom bill - and then promoted a pro homo/lesbo bill in it's stead!

Pence reminds me of John Boehner.

Maybe he's a cutthroat debater that doesn't have limits like Trump. That's about the ONLY thing I can think of that he could possibly do better than the other candidates.

Condi is also a globalist just like Bush, Obama, Clinton, etc.

He needs a black, female or Hispanic that is a solid conservative, not some RINO, but a solid conservative.

Picking another middle aged white guy isn't a good strategy, and Indiana isn't a swing State either.

She was vetted for the position according to Hannity this afternoon.

Trump has tweeted that Pence is his selection. Formal announcement coming tomorrow at 11am ET.

1. Pence was born in 1959 in Columbus, Indiana. He has been a lifelong Indiana resident. He attended Hanover College and the Indiana University School of Law.

2. Pence was a Democrat in college. He was the youth coordinator for the Bartholomew County Democrats and voted for Jimmy Carter in 1980. Pence claims his senior thesis changed his views, due to a heavy emphasis on studying the American founding fathers. He left Hanover as a conservative Christian, according to Indianapolis Monthly.

3. Pence ran a conservative Indiana think-tank called the Indiana Policy Review Foundation from 1991 to 1994.

4. In 1994, he started a radio show that grew into a five-day-a-week show on local radio. He left his radio show to run for Congress in 2000. It was his second attempt having lost in 1990. He won the 2000 race.

5. As a congressman, Pence was more conservative than the average Republican. He frequently scored perfect on the American Conservative Union scorecard. Earlier in his career, he also scored well on the Club for Growth scorecard, but scored worse as time went on.

6. Pence is soft on illegal immigration. In 2006, he pushed George Bush on immigration reform. In 2013, Governor Pence signed into law a bill that lessened the restrictions on illegal immigrants being ineligible for in-state tuition rates at Indiana state colleges and public universities.
