The Edge was barely competent in U2's early years but he got much better as time went on.

I heard there is an interview where a reporter asked Clapton what it felt like to be the greatest guitarist in the world and he said he didn't know. "Maybe you should ask Prince".

Lots of great ones out there from Knopfler to John Mayer but I've never seen anyone I could say was better than Prince.

Yes, I've seen Billy Gibbons three times with ZZ Top. A magician is right. I've seen Clapton about 18 times, starting in the early 70s. Also magic. I would give my left gonad to be able to play a 20th of how any of these people can (could) play.

That's a myth that started spreading after Prince's death but it's not true.

Clapton did once say, however, that Buddy Guy was the best he'd ever seen. Now whether he really meant it or as just being nice, who knows.

Looks like it was as you say. I don't know enough to say Clapton or Hendrix or Prince was the best I just know Prince was as good as any I've ever seen and could play every single instrument at an expert level.

I have heard the "greatest guitarist interview spiel" several times by people throughout the years and every time it tends to always have different names of different guitar people thrown in...

Unfortunately in the last 20 years the guitar playing world hasn't really gained anything new that they didn't already have...Feel free to prove me wrong. There might be a couple people here and there that are unique, but I just don't see anyone else with a new type of sound that will stick around.

I have been playing since I was 13 and maybe its just me but I steal all of my ideas and licks from people that have come long before me.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.
