I always thought the meat off a bobcat looked good; it appeared to be a much whiter meat than a coon. Never had the nerve to try it. I've seen a lot of folks out west that hunt mountain lion say it is delicious, like pork almost. Would make sense if a bobcat tasted similar.

I'd love to try raccoon. Just haven't yet.
Possum, I won't eat. Those nasty bastages eat ticks and crawl into the carcass of dead animals to eat bloated gassy organs. Nope, nada, never.
This, no possum for me, I've seen 'em do this on deer carcass I've had muskrat at wild game dinners, pretty good if you take out the kernels (glands), horrible if you don't

That's Zesty Italian dressing dumb Arse. You have to soak it in spicy Italian dressing before cooking. Makes all the difference

Tried it and possum at a wild game banquet a few years ago. It was edible... but compared to the possum, it should be considered a delicacy. x2

Just a side note but black bear is the best wild game I've ever eaten. It's absolutely delicious. Little fried chuncks or ribs, man it's fantastic!

As long as it's prepared correctly and at high enough heat to kill possible nasties in the meat. Had it years go prepared in a slow-cooker for about 8 hours, with the fat-great skimmed off every hour or so, and it was fantastic. I've drawn bear tags in West Virginia a couple of times since but haven't been able to get up there.

X2 with the black bear. Twenty some odd years ago, I worked for the NC Wildlife Commission on the coast. During the bear season, we drove around collecting weights, teeth from all the killed bears we could find, and dug the ovaries and reproductive tracts out of the females.
A dog club gave me a neck roast one time. Grilled it, and man, it was and still is the best thing I've ever eaten. My dad even liked it, and he NEVER ate any wild game.
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

treemydog, what turns those coastal bears into such ginormous beasties? Lack of pressure and ample habitat-food? I know a couple of folks who have hunted over there and they say if anyone ever wants to hunt true giant black bears, that's the place. But it's tough hunting.
