I've seen a lot of folks out west that hunt mountain lion say it is delicious, like pork almost. Would make sense if a bobcat tasted similar.

Bobcat isn't bad. Just have to not overcook it since it's so lean. Flash in a pan, marinated on a grill for a few minutes, etc.

Just a side note but black bear is the best wild game I've ever eaten. It's absolutely delicious. Little fried chuncks or ribs, man it's fantastic!

An old neighbor lady when I was a kid baked coon after soaking it in vinager for time and then spicing it up with a rub, it was ok. I tried it once other than the couple times I had hers and it sucked

As long as it's prepared correctly and at high enough heat to kill possible nasties in the meat.

Had it years go prepared in a slow-cooker for about 8 hours, with the fat-great skimmed off every hour or so, and it was fantastic. I've drawn bear tags in West Virginia a couple of times since but haven't been able to get up there.

X2 with the black bear. Twenty some odd years ago, I worked for the NC Wildlife Commission on the coast. During the bear season, we drove around collecting weights, teeth from all the killed bears we could find, and dug the ovaries and reproductive tracts out of the females.

A dog club gave me a neck roast one time. Grilled it, and man, it was and still is the best thing I've ever eaten. My dad even liked it, and he NEVER ate any wild game.

treemydog, what turns those coastal bears into such ginormous beasties? Lack of pressure and ample habitat-food? I know a couple of folks who have hunted over there and they say if anyone ever wants to hunt true giant black bears, that's the place. But it's tough hunting.
