Can you imagine the cluster this will be. What if I hunt at a friends place who baits and pays the $15 but I dont bait so I dont pay the 15, his feeder is now in my line of sight but I am not hunting over his bait as I dont have a permit, do I need to get down and move his feeder behind a fallen tree so I cant see it? Can I log in to pocket ranger and buy a $15 permit on my phone during my hunt if I see a warden coming? Like typical bureaucrats they made the law in a way that will still allow game wardens plenty of leeway to write tickets for not having a permit to hunt over bait. They can't just cut off the money completely.

Nothing says freedom like paying our overlords for permission. If no revenue had been attached to this it would have never passed. Last record I could find online shows 167,000 licensed hunters in Alabama. If just 100,000 of them are deer hunters thats a extra 1.5 mil of revenue a year. Plus the extra taxes off corn sales, and still extra revenue from hunting over corn tickets without your $15 permit. The one plus I see to this is now wardens can concentrate more on poachers instead of out checking for baiting.

It's not going to stop at deer and hogs.... the lazy a$$ non-hunting city boys that wanted this passed so bad will now be screaming for baiting on turkeys, doves, ducks, alligators, squirrels and every other dad gum animal we hunt in Alabama till all they have to do is drive their golf carts around and pick up carcasses so they can take their picture on Facebook. All this boils down to is folks are too lazy to do the work it takes to do green fields and that's it. Can't afford a tractor? well guess what neither can I but I still get my fields in every year with hard work and sweat equity. Alabama will model Texas in 5 years all because people are too lazy. So this new thing in Alabama pisses you off because you feel some people aren't working as hard as you choose to? Are you one of those guys that gets pissed at rifle hunters because you choose to hunt bow only? I'm glad it passed and I will gladly pay the $15 to rid my land of some pigs. I won't waste my money putting any out to kill a stupid pine goat.

I won't waste my money putting any out to kill a stupid pine goat. I'm mad because it does nothing to help the wildlife and preserving it for future generations (particularly my son). The point about the lazy a$$ hunters is it would have never been brought up if people weren't so lazy. It's cause and affect. With CWD knocking on our doorstep this just greatly increases the chances of it becoming widespread in our state, it's not a smart move by any stretch unless you just want to "hunt" over a pile of corn.

You're assuming that 100,000 of them will pay for the permit. Remember, this is a group of hunters along with turkey hunters who have given a big FU to the GameCheck mandate. If you think 100,000 or more deer hunters are going to pay for "the privilege" of putting out some corn for deer, you're sadly mistaken.

I guess that everyone realizes the ones that will see a big change are the ones that have been hunting over bait already. Double or triple the competition raises the odds fast. Nothing makes deer move less in the daylight more than bait to eat and more footprints putting bait out. To each his own and I hope it doesn’t cause more divisions in hunters. Dude do you realize just how much corn was fed already? Pffffft. It’s aldeer. What do you expect?

Anyone who has ever sacked corn by hand, loaded the bags, unloaded them, and fed them might not be slinging around that whole “lazy a$$” comment too much.

Hope all of the lazy a$$ hunters in bama are happy now I guess Walmart will double their corn inventory. And their price per bag. Actually, it makes no difference to me. If anything, I am probably glad because hopefully now, GW’s will have more time to chase poachers/trespassers than sneaking around looking for a kernel of corn.
