Not revolvers. Not all the time but when targeting a certain buck during the rut I can hunt some pretty thick stuff where shots are about that of archery. Used to haul the long gun in there, then that changed to a Remington model 7, then that changed to a 7.5" Ruger Super Redhawk, now I'm using my Springfield Armory 1911 .45 or Sig P220 in 10 mm. Have had good luck with both.

I'm not there yet but if I ever get my accuracy down with my Ruger .44 mag I will be using it, especially at short ranges as you mentioned.

I been wanting to pop one with my glock 21 converted to 400 cor-bon for awhile now .

I've killed a hand full with pistols . Shot as big gobbler with my pistol one time .

When I worked on a farm I killed all kinds of critters off the tractors . Even a few yotes with a 357 and 45 auto

A 125 grain hollow point 357 will explode a armidillo . Lol

One of these I'll get one with my BFR 460 s&w

I actually killed a doe with my S&W M&Pc 9mm last year. Was sitting on a shooting house on the ground and she walked directly beside the shooting house about 5 feet away and I popped her twice, first one right in the lungs and second one clipped the liver. She ran about 100 yards and fell in the middle of the road I was hunting off so loading her up on the 4 wheeler was easy.

I had my rifle with me but when I saw how close she was I figured what the heck. Always wanted to take one with a pistol and so I did.

I've killed half a dozen with a Ruger 41 mag, quit toting it because I figured it was going to cost me a big buck one day(harder to handle/aim)

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Let's see, non revolvers....I've killed coyotes and several hogs with my Glock 23. I've killed a couple of whitetails(does), a mule deer doe, and one antelope buck with a T/C Encore.

I never liked the hassle of toting it and dealing with it in the stand.

For your situation, I'd just take a rifle or a shotgun before I took a pistol.

I been wanting to hunt with one. Glock 23 (.40 S$W) is what I got. Will it kill one at archery range?

I’ve killed a couple does and several hogs with my FNP-45tac. Using +P rounds.

Not Revolvers? What are you prejudice? I bet you hunt with a crossbow also 🤭🤣

Yes, that's one of the downsides. Also getting on target takes longer, and you run the risk of seeing deer coming/going to your stand that are just out of range. But the trade off is that it is more sport and will sharpen your game.

It will but you've got to pick you shots and avoiding quartering shots at a distance. Most of mine are between 10 - 30 yards. As a general rule the further the shot the more you have to pay attn to angles. Up close it doesn't really matter. I've never had a pass-thru shot w/ the 45 or 10 like w/ the 44 so tracking can be tricky w/less blood.

I've been lucky so far but I know the day's coming where I'll miss my 44 when forced to shoot through a snag. The 44 is unmatched here.

I’ve carried my Glock 10mm with me a few times but haven’t shot one with it yet.

I’ve had to finish off several folks deer with a 45. Take it with me hunting but haven’t had one come by close enough for a shot

Only accurate rifles are interesting.

Not a pistol, but I’ve carried this 44MAG on occasion... just hasn’t come together yet. But it will soon enough I reckon.

I will never fire a 44 mag in the woods without ear plugs. the sound reflected off trees hurt my ears for several days
