$1500-$3000 depending on who you take it to. Call several reputable dealers & get some quotes.

It sounds to me that you have probably got some scrap aluminum there. I would have a Mech look at it before I scrapped it though. There is a guy in New Hope that sells used outboards. He also repairs them for the public without charging 65.00 per hour. I know another guy that lives near Guntersville dam that works on them. He is a good christian man that I would trust. PM me if you want names and #s.

I have a '94 90hp that I just found out has a broken ring that has scarred one cylinder pretty bad. In order to have it bored out and fixed properly(including rebuilding cards, changing impeller, etc....) I am looking at $1700. So, I have a choice, get it fixed, or have a 24' pontoon boat that sits in my yard. Comparing NADA prices... a pontoon w/o a motor vs. with is about that much of a difference.. So I am hoping to look at it as an investment. (ha ha)

She should be able to get a "rebuilt" or used power head for about a grand, maybe a little less. Nothing to swapping them out. disconnecting and reconnecting the wires and levers is more trouble than swapping the "head" out.

updated....friend of mine has a buddy that does outboard repair part time retired.
He would pull the heads for $50 and be able to see from there if it could be rebuilt or not.....if it can be rebuilt.
rebuilding the whole motor said he wouldnt do just 1 cylinder it was all or nothing because of warranty work and future problems with other cylinders for $2200.00 if the power head was good....if power head was bad then looking at a total of $4000.
He has a 94 Evindrude Looper 120hp that he wants $2500 for it installed using the levers, steering from her motor now. If the lower unit will swap between the 2 he will sell the 94' model for $2000 installed.
what are your thoughts on 2 year 5 hp upgrade opposed to potentially not being able to be rebuilt, or getting in with rebuild then power head bad and having $4K TIED UP ^^^ Ding ding ding! Winner!

You might try "I Shop Marine" I ask them and they said there were two different power heads for 1992 Johnson. They had both, one for 1650 and the other for 1450(rebuilt). A New one, all ready run in by them, was like 2300.
