I like Buffalo Trace but it’s hard to find locally. What brands are close in taste but easier to find?

I’ve had luck finding it at the little Indian package stores. Got a bottle of Buffalo, eagle rare, and Blanton’s Oh, so you're hoarding. . . . . I think I've got this figured out.
half of one, six dozen of the other I can eat fifty eggs.........Cool Hand Luke

I've never been crazy about Buffalo trace, and like you say it's hard to get anyway. I prefer Bulleit bourbon over Buffalo myself, and it is readily available most anywhere Agreed.

I have been digging Chattanooga whiskey lately. When I want to splurge I get a bottle of John Emerald. Lately I have been drinking Wild Turkey 101, Old Grandad Bottled in Bond, and Bulliet.

There really a lot that’s comparable to Buffalo Trace. I think if you branched out and tried some other bourbons you’d find there’s a plethora of “good” economical bourbons. 1792 small batch is one of my favorites, but it doesn’t necessarily taste like buffalo trace. There’s so many flavor profiles.... There’s a lot of good YouTube videos with suggestions. Lots of good suggestions so far on here too. Try a small bottle of Clyde Mays.

I don’t care for a heavy Rye or a heavy oak whiskey.
