Heard Birmingham shut you down this week! Sucks

Yeah I was quite upset after having two trailers of UTVs and skidsteers on site 68 miles one way to be told no, after being told yes. Thankfully I had a back up and we traveled 42 miles north to another site and had a fabulous burn. There’s NO reason that I should’ve been denied a permit that day. None at all.

I’m rather persistent though, and they are supposed to meet me tomorrow morning to issue a permit at 10 am. Fire weather forecast improved a lot for tomorrow. We will see. I’ve got another backup planned if they deny it again. But I’m going to fight hard to get this changed in the future. They should issue a permit any day the AFC don’t have fire restrictions, period.

That looks like a challenge of a place to burn

It’s really not. The majority of fire breaks are 14-16’ wide dirt roads on ridge tops and every ridge has a lane running the length. We just light the main roads and ridge tops and let it burn down hill. It’s rather easy on the difficulty meter. We’ve had to push a couple miles of new lanes, but that’s really not a lot on a property this size.

AwesomeI I hope to see it soon. And yes, the gov't should be an assist to burning, not a hindrance. These new air quality issues could become a problem. We are NOT Florida!

Got lucky and was able to burn just before we got +2" rain.

First pic is one of the thickets I cleared with mulcher 4 weeks ago. Not 100% sure what I'm going to do with these areas, but wanted sweet gums and volunteer pines gone!

Looking good! I’ll be at it again tomorrow on a nice thinned pine stand with 3-5’ tall sweetgum. First burn on this tract! It’ll be so good afterwards. I can’t wait.

Yesterday in Bibb county. This one drew a whole lot of attention from the neighbors. I spent more time educating folks than burning.

Well it wasn’t the best day to burn but I got it done anyway. Some burned great some barely at all. I definitely have to open up this area more.
