We’ve been testing different loads in the 25wssm and the 100gr Barnes TTSX bullets. Found the load the little Browning really likes and loaded up a few. I’m really enjoying this handloading stuff. [Linked Image]

Congrats. You gotta share more details. Might help someone else.

46grs of Win 760 seated to 2.28”. It shot a 5 shot group about the size of a quarter at 100yds. Plenty good for us.

Its an addiction which will only get worse once you start killing critters with ammo you rolled.

I’ve been shooting factory ammo all my life. Until you find that perfect load for the rifle you’re shooting, you have no idea how most factory ammo sucks. Handloading has made me a way better shot!! Only bad thing is there is a LOT of choices of good bullets on the market and it’s hard to decide what to try. I’m starting to get a good supply of different powders, bullets, primers, brass and the different dies for each caliber I have. I’m enjoying the challenge of finding the great combinations of powders and bullets that fits the rifle of choice.

Buy as you go whether you need it or not on a random trip to town is how you build up supplies instead of buying a bunch at one time
Read up on different bullets and how they perform and make your decisions from that for new ones you’d like to try
Everyone develops a particular liking for different brands
For instance I like Sierra, Nosler and Barnes bullets
There is common powders everyone uses for different cartridges
I use mostly IMR powders and some Hodgdon powders
There’s a ton of knowledge on here so feel free to ask
Wait til you kill something with those loads you built….you’ll see and experience the effect it has on a person

When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself
The older I get the better I used to be

All very true especially the making you a better shot.

It’s kinda like a quest and lots fun along the way.

Dang sure gives me something to do with all the dang rain and wet conditions we’ve been having here. I don’t like being stuck inside and now I have something to occupy what would normally be wasted time in my book.

Marshmud, you can REALLY start to save money now , LOL. You will shoot a lot more but the best part is not having to be dependent on the whims of manufacturers or political changes. Best advice---stock up on primers.

Remember: It aint what you shoot...it's how you shoot it.

For me, the addiction manifests itself in its most raw form in a very subtle way. You spend weeks and months "perfecting" a few loads for a rifle - then once you have 3 or 4 loads figured out and know how they shoot, there only one thing to do. You buy another rifle in another cartridge and the process starts all over again because you MUST conquer another. If you are lucky, you will have a few pals to work up loads for in their rifles. That will keep you from having to buy another one for a little while.

And it's much, much worse if you have to struggle with one to find something it likes. Once you do find the magic combo, the disease really runs rampant then!

It gets worse when you buy the same caliber just to use different loads you've worked up.

I’ve been stocking up on CCI and Federal small rifle primers and White River LRPs. Building up a pretty good supply.
