Iv gotten a couple of different answers and some seem confused even at the dealer. I have a Q Thunder chicken rated up to 30 cal. My question is, is it safe to use on .17hmr and if so how effective might it be? Obviously the 17 is small enough, just curious if there are any potential issues. Thanks

Most cans can and will safely shoot smaller calibers. BUT, there’s a lot of diameter difference between .17 and .3. You may suffer a littpe on projectile performance going that small. As far as it being safe, there shouldn’t be an issue.

I have a Hybrid 46. Have shot it on rifles from .22-250 up to .45-70 (and a lot in between) with great results.

Do they offer different end caps? Rugged does but don’t think their 762 model has the components to do .22/.17hmr in mine. That’s why I also have a Ruger silent SR. Don’t think sending a hot dog thru a hallway would be that suppressed.

They don’t offer other caps. Im sure it won’t be quite as suppressed. But i want to try it until i get rimfire suppressor. I have terrible tinnitus so ill take any reduction i can get

It'll be fine, other than the crack of the bullet breaking the sound barrier.

I shoot 22LR through 30 cal cans all the time. If I'm shooting subs, all you hear is the action cycle. If I'm shooting supers, there's the bullet crack of the sound barrier being broken.

Have you tried Google?

Unless it’s user serviceable (breaks down to the core/baffles), most DO NOT recommend shooting ANY rimfire through their center fire suppressors. Sure, you can do it, but you could foul it up rapidly and cause an issue with your center fire use. If it’s serviceable and rated/warranted for rimfire, go nuts. Just something to be aware of.
