If you shoot a deer and don't get an exit hole, they can bleed a river-inside the body cavity and leave without a trace. I used to belong to the 100% energy dump theory until I got tired of feeding coyotes and buzzards. They don't have to go far in our state to get in the thick stuff and I started using Accubonds and Partitions with a lot better recovery rate. Lets face it, some of them just aint gonna' give it up where they stand. I called Nosler after the BT's first came out and talked with one of their ballisticians and he said the early ones had a thinner jacket and that Nosler was going to "stout up" the jacket. They did and I had more success with them in my 270 but still didn't get exit holes 100% of the time. The problem with deer is they don't watch tv and have a habit if not turning broadside all the time. That is when you need a bullet that wont blow up and punch into the boiler room to get that B/P down to zero. MY 2 cents worth.
Remember: It aint what you shoot...it's how you shoot it.

Hammer Hunter bullets are the answer you seek. They are the love child of a Barnes and a ballistic tip. You get violent expansion AND an exit. Shoot a light for caliber bullet as fast as you can push it. The shock created by the faster bullet can’t be underestimated. The all copper bullet sheds individual petals and the shank holds together and exits. Sometimes you’ll have numerous exit holes where some petals and the shank exit. I shoot a 88gr in a 6mm at 3300 fps and it’s like they are struck by Thor’s hammer. Had numerous deer drop at the shot (behind shoulder shot) when the central nervous system was not hit. This bullet kills them faster than anything I’ve ever used and I’ve used most common calibers from a 300wsm down to a 223. They on sale for the next week too- https://hammerbullets.com/load-data/
You're only as good as your worst shot-

don't need Partitions on Alabama deer......unless the angle is acute or dead away and no time to wait for a better shot as the deer leaves.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

A friend of mine swears by both partitions and accubonds. I just shake my head and continue ordering sierra and speer bullets.
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

I had some Speer soft points delivered today for my daughters 243. I also have some Barnes TTSX on the way to try also.

A friend of mine swears by both partitions and accubonds. I just shake my head and continue ordering sierra and speer bullets. I use Accubonds and Partitions also, and they're great deer bullets. But you don't need a bonded bullet to kill a pine goat. But I also use a wide assortment of bullets from other manufacturers like Barnes, Berger, Hornady and Sierra. Usually, my bullet choice is based on accuracy. If the Accubond shoots the best, and they often do, that's what I will use in that gun.

Dave loves Partitions. Don't need them for whitetail in Bama. Brother hit a 93 lb doe with a 154 Hornady out of his 7 mag that literally pushed the deer into a pine tree. If you want 2 holes Partitions are your bullet if you want one hole the Sst or Ttx will sizzle them up. Dave, I want two holes. With an exit hole the size of your fist!!! Top Hole is Fort Scott Bottom is Browning BXS, Similar to Barnes

I also ordered some Accubond’s in 140 grain. Nosler recommends IMR 4831 49.5 grains. Now I’m on the hunt for the powder.

I will not load SSTs in anything I'm gonna deer hunt with they are very frangible and seem to explode on impact. I'm not a fan of the 277 130gr NBTs either. That's just me personally, a lot of people love them and have great success with them the .277 NBTs 150grs seem to hold together better and usually exit but I'm gonna pull all the ones I have loaded and reset with Accubonds. I'm pushing these at 3060fps using RL26. The NBT, Accubonds and the Partitions all hit the same POI so if I ever get a chance to go after Elk I'll swap to a Partition

No need to change to a Partition for elk, unless you just want to.
