Here in lowndes. Cicadas are here too. Sounds like the woods are full of sirens. Hope I can even hear a gobble.

All silent here in Perry county. The breeding season has been over for weeks. I'm planning one more hunt next week and will call it a season. Looks like I am gonna have to eat my last tag. It would be my second one since 2002, and I obviously need some new places to hunt. That's hard to find these days.

Coleman and I got close a little while. This bird has been roosting on this cutover all season. This morning was no different. He pitched down to within 70 of us just over a rise. Gobbled good for about 10 minutes. Rain picked up and I could hear him drumming, and could tell he was headed for cover. Never gobbled again. Heard 2 more burning it up. We’re in a shooting house waiting out the last bit of moderate rain.

Quiet here. Just seems there are no birds on the 2 properties I hunt this year. Can’t even find any sign, much less a bird to hunt.

Yep if you have them they leave sign and gobble. If you don't have them you are wasting your time

Quiet morning here again. I’m giving it until about 10, then going to cut grass and get the boat ready.

Heard my first gobble yesterday at 525. Didn’t hear a single one today. Called in some Jakes on second setup. Fired my little boy up so that was a win. He was pissed I wouldn’t shoot. Also found a raided turkey egg in a road. That part hurt my feelings.

Busted a hen off a dust bowl. Saw a speckled king snake. Had a billion cicadas buzzing. They were flying everywhere. Hunted til 1130 and didn’t hear a gobble. My buddy hunting another tract down the road killed one before 6am.

Dead at 657 this morning. Came in on a string. Text book chess match, fun hunt

10” beard. 1.25” spurs

Had a crop full of ripe blackberries. Hunting in May in Alabama is wild
