So I went to my clearcut this morning..
Snuck in before daylight and got settled in.Beautiful Morning.Light north wind and cold..perfect setup.Bout 6:50 I catch movement outta the corner of my eye.Its was a boy maybe 17-18 years old wearing blue jeans,black shirt and a black jacket with a rifle over his shoulder.Nobody has permission to step foot on this property but me and my brother.

Well iwatch him for bout a minute and he's just standing there bout 300 yards from me scanning the cutover.I stood up,got my orange boggin and held it up and whistled so he would see me and get the hell off my land.Doesn't work.So finally I get aggrevated and hollered "HEY" at him.He stops looks in my direction and just watches me.I'm 20 feet up a tree watching him through my binos.I figure he's fixin to get the hell outta dodge..he's busted.I was wrong.

He proceeds to walk another 15-20 yards stop and start scanning the cutover again.By this time I'm pissed.I hollered again..HEY..GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE...YOUR EFFIN TRESSPASSING.That sonofabitch shot me a bird and walked on out in the clearcut a lil further and stops and starts scanning again.At this point I've done sit back down scratching my head on what to do.Obviously this sumbitch ain't right so I ain't fixin to confront his retarded ass while he's holding a gun.Finally he walks off through the woods.I'm already on the phone with the game warden which lives 3 miles away and is a good friend of mine.GW tells me to hang on..Bout 5 minutes later my radio beeps..its another game warden.He asked me where I was at and I told him.He said he couldn't make it cause he's below autaugaville prolly 15 miles away.

That right there aggrevated me too.Your a GW and your 3 miles away but call another GW that's 15+ miles away..WTH..Anyway I'm fixin to go house to house till I find the little shithead and tell his parents they better keep the little fu**er off my property.

Just needed to get that off my chest...I mean damn.I make it a point to keep pressure off this property cause there's some big bucks that use it.I don't scout or go walking ever cause I don't wanna jump any deer or leave my scent all over the place.Just aggrevates my medula oblangata to the max.

If you do find him make sure to let him know what's gonna happen to that finger next time you see it. Hope you get him.

That sucks. Hopefully he will stay out or at least get caught by a warden if he won't.

Definitely needs his ass handed to him.

I think I would call him stupid, I mean he didn't know who was in that stand yelling at him and for all he knows the other hunter could have shot him for flipping him the bird, people have been shot for things like this. I hope you catch him.

That kid don't have the gonads to shoot anyone. Next time, start a conversation then climb down and walk to him. Start talking about how you like his gun and when you get it in your hands keep it till you talk to his parents or have to whoop his tail. I don't ever yell at tresspass, we talk face to face. I have never had one to come back.

Amen. That's a dangerous game I'd rather not play. Not to mention if he is in fact 17-18 yrs old and lives at home you'd likely have to explain why you were shooting at him to a potentially pissed off momma or daddy. I can only imagine the kids version of events had a shot been fired.

Best of luck dealing with this. Not making excuses for him but teen boys do stupid things and some have hot tempers.

smart man longspur. Rather than letting him know where you are, the best thing to do is slip out of the tree before he see's you and put a stalk on him. Once you have the drop on him, then you confront him and hold him until the law arrives. Never confront a poacher from a treestand unless you have someone else on the ground that you trust within sight of him and you have your scope on him and are fully prepared to pull the trigger. Some people take their poaching seriously and probably half already have a criminal record of some sort so you've got to be real careful cause you dont know who you're dealing with.
