Dad has beem in the hospital since Sunday spitting up blood real bad. They did another echocardiogram a little bit ago and saw a heart valve issue they missed yesterday. They put him on a respirator and are putting a tube in his heart, for the time being, to support the valve to keep it from collapsing. They are going to do emergency heart surgery either tonight or in the morning to fix the valve or replace it. Whatever they need to do. Doctor said this problem is being caused by something bigger. So when they fix this they will still have to find what caused it. Said this is as sick as you can get and told us to prepare for the fact that he may not make it. Please throw some prayers up for him. Thanks.
****Update**** They still don't know what the original problem was that brought dad to the hospital causing him to spit up blood. Whatever it was though built up the pressure in his heart and caused a valve to "blow". This allowed the blood to back flow into his lungs basically filling them up and drowning him in his own blood. Naturally that has taken top priority now. They have installed a balloon in his heart to help keep the back flow from happening. He is sedated and on a ventilator while they pull the fluid out of his lungs. They have put a port in his chest and are pumping antibiotics in him to try and get the infection down enough to where they can do surgery to repair/replace the heart valve. They are telling us it will probably be Thursday or Friday before they can do that. Afterwards, they will still have to find out the cause behind the blood he has been spitting up.
****2nd Update****. Wednesday, 4:15 pm Surgeon said he will take him down for surgery in the morning around 5:30'ish. Said they can't really wait any longer or else they start running the risk of infection at the point of all the tubes and such sticking out of him. It should take 4-6 hours. Will keep y'all posted. Thanks for all the prayers, well wishes, messages, etc...
****3rd Update**** Thursday, 7:30 pm This is being sent to many people so I apologize for it not being more personal to each of you. I've just had so many people contacting me and for that I'm thankful. First let me say thank you for all the outpouring display of love, support and prayers for my dad and my family. As you know, dad had his surgery today. The heart valve was too far gone to repair, so it was replaced. When they removed the old valve they found where dad had had a heart attack sometimes in the past. This was a very unusual heart attack though. The artery behind the valve had died but the heart was still completely functional which is very unusual. The surgeon said many surgeons go their entire career without seeing something like this. They did end up getting his valve replaced but they had a lot of complications getting him off the bypass machine. Also, the pressure in his lungs was about five times greater than what it is supposed to be, causing complications by not allowing oxygen to get to the rest of his body. There are many, many more details to all this but to be honest it's just too extensive to get into and, to be honest, I don't really understand the rest. Pop is in really rough shape and the surgeon told us it will take a miracle for him to survive. Pop is a devout believer in God and raised his family to be as well. So, while we believe in miracles, we see this as a "win, win" situation. If Pop pulls through this it will be an amazing display of God's power. If he doesn't pull through, then he will step into eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We aren't giving up hope but we recognize that God has a plan and whatever it is, is supposed to be. More tears will fall and hard days are sure to come but through it all, we pray that His will be done and His Kingdom glorified.

Prayers sent for him and family.
If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.
