Congrats on the new piece of land BW! I used to hunt family land in that area quite a bit but there’s not much family left in Rockford and the ones that are there have sold all their land. Better turkey hunting than deer hunting but there seems to be good bucks killed in the area fairly regular.

Coosa has some monster deer. One heck of a good turkey county too. Congrats on getting some dirt!! Just heard someone on the mossy oak podcast say that a fella who has "killed 5 - 4.5 to 5.5 year old birds a year for 15 years has only killed one in the last 3 years". Apparently he thinks the coosa population is almost gone

Age structure, or lack of, could be an indication of the percent of 2 year olds being killed every year……The overall population could still be about the same with a higher percentage of the 2 year olds being killed…..therefore leaving less older birds

If he knows enough about turkeys to kill 5 a year, he ought to have sense enough to know they’re born the same time of the year he kills them.

Plus the coosa county population is doing just fine! This fella also thinks that blackhead has decimated the turkeys - range wide.......

Recently Closed on 182 Acres North-West of Rockford. About 40 acres of old pasture land.....rest in 80 plus year old hardwood mostly....good 6 foot wide Branch for water. Gonna plant about 5 acres in Chufa,Rest will be Green fields in the fall until next year. Then 10 acres of field Corn. Coosa County seems to have a GOOD Turkey Population.....We'll See. Good pig population too
You haven't been blocked until you've been flock blocked!!!

Does have a decent branch though.....
